The popular “Yard to Table” display “buzzes” with a slew of trends

Whether it’s a window planter in your high-rise apartment or a full-fledge beehive operation in your backyard, the Seattle Home & Garden Show spotlights hobby gardening and urban farming trends at the popular “Yard to Table” showcase.

If you are looking to get started or seeking more ways to take advantage of the space you have to work with, this 6,000-square-foot feature is packed with idea-generating features and educational displays.

Presented by Small Farm and Garden, a local non-profit for the education of sustainable gardening and community gatherings, “Yard to Table” features Northwest gardening legend Ciscoe Morris sharing his latest tips in two presentations 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 (“Ciscoe’s Favorite Plants”) and 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 (“Stump the Chump”), exhibits spotlighting vertical gardening for small spaces, raised bed gardening, greenhouse growing and soil-less hydroponic gardening products.  And show attendees can take a “little bit of spring home” with them at the display’s Flower Sale.

Urban farmers - and those who are just curious – can check out small farm animals, a chicken coop for egg-laying friends and a variety of bee farming accessories (including a live beehive) and honey products.
